The freebie corporate gift

Who can resist The Freebie?

The corporate gift and why it works

Through the years I have collected freebies: notebooks, sweets, t-shirts, jute bags, booze, mugs, umbrellas and pens.  It’s an endless list. Some of better quality than others.

Rather than automatically snuffling the lot these days, I have become more discerning about what I pick up as the freebie, thinking green. Will I just bag it because it’s free or do I really need it in my life?  Fess up, how many of you just grab because they are given, rather than giving the whole process a good second thought.  Do I really need another notebook, with a company logo splashed all over it?

I am however a complete sucker for a free pen.  I have this little game with myself.  A pen must be a freebie, but more than that, it has to be a pen given to me by a client.  I therefore can heartily confirm that I haven’t bought a pen in years.

It’s not a prerequisite to working with SG Marketing, it’s just my weak spot in the corporate freebie world we live in.  They work, the pens and other freebies.  I end up thinking about the clients I act for on a daily, almost hourly basis and off the clock too.

Over time, we have advised a lot of clients on using promotional products as marketing tools.  What do you find works?
